“My big sister taught me,” Emily said as she looked up at me with her big brown eyes that sparkled with admiration. 🤩
I had saved my babysitting money and taken her to the local gymnastics school because I wanted to teach her a back tuck but had no idea how. 🙃
“We would love to invite her to our Pre-Team,” The owner said eagerly. “And by the way, where did you learn to teach gymnastics?”
“I started flipping her around as soon as she could walk,” I said proudly.
The owner was quite surprised as I was only 12 years old. She allowed me to come into each class and as she would teach the gymnasts, she would also be teaching me. Soon she was instructing the gymnasts to do one skill with her and then do one with Miss Courtney.
Before I knew it, I was on payroll making $3.25 per hour to help pay for Emily’s gymnastics.
My coaching career progressed and I dreamed of the day when I would get to teach her to coach with me!
I also had dreams of getting married and being a stay at home mom.
I vividly remember the giggles 🤭 as my 5 siblings and I snuck tastes while we were helping mom put the cookies on the sheet! We were lucky to get a dozen cookies made after we licked all the cookie dough off our little mischievous hands!
We had so many great memories with our super creative Mom😇 who stayed home and raised all of us. I couldn’t wait to be a mom just like her.
To me that would be the perfect lifestyle. It would mean happiness and success!
Unfortunately life doesn’t always turn out as we plan…
At age 28 my husband informed me of his belief that it is impossible to raise a family on a single income, so if I had a baby we would have to put it in daycare. This was not an option for me!
This was when my life took a turn.
I started researching careers that would allow me to stay at home and raise a baby. The few things I did find, after hours of research, cost a fortune to get schooling and there was no guarantee to work from home. Not to mention the salary was pathetic.
It didn’t take long to figure out the only way to pull this off was to be in sales, or own my own business. I had issues with the sales thing, which is funny because in reality we are all sales people in some way or another, and owning your own business involves sales too!
This is when I made up my mind that I was going to be a Successful Entrepreneur!
I also made up my mind that I was going to have a baby and stay home and raise it like I always dreamed with or without my husband! But first I had to figure out how to be a Successful Entrepreneur!
At this point my education began. I started business after business (at least 10) seeing very little success.
I knew it could be done and I was determined! 😎💪
I tried MLM, physical products on Amazon, direct sales, options trading in the stock market, real estate, and more. I learned about sales funnels, auto responders, copywriting, ads, etc.
For years I was trying to find the one thing I was meant to do in this world. That one thing that would allow me to help millions and millions of people. But every time I started to see success, I would hear my old boss’s voice in my head saying, “When you realize you were meant to teach gymnastics🤸♀️ , you come back to me.”
I had taught gymnastics my whole life, living paycheck to paycheck, maybe this was it! Maybe this is what I was meant to do. Struggle😩 through life living paycheck to paycheck, teaching everyone else’s kids and never having one of my own?
Needless to say, when these thoughts entered my head, my success plummeted and I was back to square one.
After 14 years of “education”, I was finally led to the 7 Day Weekend Mentors who helped me understand what was holding me back.
That thing was ME.
I was looking for the vehicle but the vehicle doesn’t matter. 😯
What matters is finding my internal why, that inspiration inside that gets me fired up! Once I find that, and come from that space, whatever I choose to do will be the perfect thing. So it is how I show up and flow through the vehicle that makes the difference.
When my thoughts, words, and actions are all in alignment that is when I will succeed. 🤜💥🤛
With this in mind, I was able to find a couple 'vehicles' that totally resonated in my heart! And the best part is… I get to work with my sister and best friend Emily!!!!
We call ourselves the Prosperity Sisters!
